Description
ゴクラクチョウカ属最大種で、仮茎は10mにもなる。花は葉腋につき、花茎は短い。別名タビビトノキモドキ・ルリゴクラクチョウカ。
インテリア性が高く人気の観葉植物。大きな葉の蒸散作用で「生きた加湿器」と呼ばれる。葉割れは病気ではなく自然現象。
比較的寒さに強く、マイナス1℃位なら野外で越冬する。葉や幹をコモ巻き等で防寒すればマイナス3℃位にも対応可能。日当たりを好むが耐陰性があり、明るい日陰でも育成可。
生育期（5月～9月）は鉢土表面が乾いたらたっぷり水を与える。秋の最低気温が20度以下になったら水やり回数を減らし、冬期は乾燥気味に管理。肥料は生育期に油粕や緩効性化学肥料を少量与える。春から秋にかけてカイガラムシやアブラムシが発生することがある。
