Description
高木性で分枝し、高さ20m以上に達する。葉は線状披針形、無柄でかたく、全面灰白色、茎頂部に密生し葉冠を形成する。幹と葉からは「竜の血」と呼ばれる暗赤色の樹液が出る。この樹液は、塗料、写真製版、薬に用いられる。長命な植物としても有名で、カナリア諸島に推定樹齢6000～7000年、幹周15mにおよぶ物が有った。
